Soft Toy Making - 5 ways Little kids can help!

Soft Toy Making

Soft Toy Making

Thank You so much dear friends for the wishes and concern about my burnt hand. It felt so nice to read the loving comments.
I have got over the pain stage but cant craft as big funny looking blebs have formed on my palm.
My daughter encouraged me to see the humorous side of it by commenting " Amma you have balloons on your hand!!! " He He He!!

Sharing a soft toy bunny we made a couple of days back and I was reluctant to post the photos as it didnt look very  impressive!

5 ways Little kids can help you in Soft toy making!
I am not a good seamstress and moan if I have to stitch! But even I could manage to make this soft toy bunny in a couple of hours with a little bit of help from a 5 year old!
1.Let your little one choose the colors of the soft toy  -- Well the risk is you may end up with an orange bunny like ours!!
2.Your little helper can trace the pattern- most soft toy making involves templates and tracing-- my kiddo felt very very important "not making mistakes" while she traced out her bunny!
3.Cut out the paper template- You can see my daughter in full concentration mode as she carefully cuts out her bunny template.

Momma can then take over and trace and cut out the pattern on fur and stitch the soft toy parts
4.Little helper can have a jab at pulling out the parts-- most soft toy making involves stitching on the wrong side and then turning out to reveal the furry side. I wish I had captured the delight in my daughters face when she she turned her bunny's ears right side out!

5. Stuffing the soft toy! - This is quite a lot of fun for little hands-- thrilling for them to see a floppy bag take shape when they put the cotton into it!!
I know our bunny isnt too good looking --I just posted this to pique your interest in this awesome craft-- since even a " no  sew person" like me who hates to even sew on a button loves soft toy making and you might too if you try your hand at it !

Do be kind to our funny looking fella ! Eagerly awaiting to read how you find him/ her![my daughter dressed Bunny up as a "her" but I felt Bunny looked somewhat grumpy and more like a "him"]

  2. Like the plush bunny. I've crocheted plush but not made any from fur. Glad your pain has subsided. The scars will go away with time. Was afraid I'd have scars on my 2 fingers from where Teddy bit me by accident but you cannot even tell now.

  14. How could one NOT be kind to this cutie!!! It is adorable..I actually love the color... Your daughter did such a wonderful job... I also made a plush with my little fella which is on my blog and the closer we got to being finished the more excited he got, he literally danced at times so I can imagine the expression on your daughters face...It is so rewarding isn't it! Glad to hear the pain has subsided, it is so awesome you are still able to post! Like yourself I don't like stitching or sewing but I love the result and the journey.
