Floral Card and Chennai Rains

Stamped Floral Card
Hi friends, its raining in my home in Bangalore but nothing like the devastating rains and floods neighboring Chennai is experiencing. The photos and videos shared on social media are heart wrenching.
Chennai Rains
The photo above was shared by a crafter friend Catherine Joseph on facebook...I think its taken from her window. Water levels have reached 1 storey level in several parts of her city Chennai
Chennai Floods
And this is how the commute is . We dont have any relatives in Chennai but felt so sad when we spoke to a doctor friend of ours who was confined to his home  with his wife and young daughter .They had no electricity, gas or water and had no way to move to a different location. They were dependent on food packages thrown via helicopter.
Chennai Airport
And that is how the airport is now. The government and normal people are doing a fantastic job with rescue operation and disaster relief but one does feel so helpless as a common man  when we see such calamities. One a different note I think it makes us feel thankful and more grateful for what we have too when we see the suffering of others..
Sharing a floral card in warm colors to chase away the blues!
Floral Card
The card features a Joy Crafts stamp and I colored the rose using water and distress ink pads .Highlighted parts of the yellow rose with an orange gel pen. Used a mixture of walnut stain and vintage photo to ink  the background and had fun tearing and curling the "postcard"!
Stamped Floral Card
The tiny orange roses were made by  twirling and folding 1cm wide quilling paper strips !
Stamped Floral Card
I kept the hues of my card in autumn colors and added golden elements and finished it off with  golden dragon fly charm.
Supplies : Dies : Marianne Anja Border , Marianne Designs Anja Leaf 1, Marianne Designs Anja Leaf 3, Spellbinders Jewel Fantasies

  13. Pretty with a wonderful feminine vintage look to it. Yellow Roses are a fav Rose color of mine. My hubby bought me 2 Yellow Rose bushes. First one has red/pink on outside of the yellow and has a couple blooms on it. The 2nd one is a young bush and will bloom next yr. We had rain here in Central TX that broke records but luckily we did not have anything like what others are experiencing. Our yard is drying out since the sun has been out during the day.

  20. Not only social media but news channels are full of live coverage and special reports on Chennai floods ! Its unbelievable that a developed Metro city like chennai can go in such a state just because of heavy rainfall ! For many of us in Maharashtra it reminded us of Mumbai floods. Its Inspiring that in such difficult time the common people, various trusts ,groups come together to help each other in many ways !
Coming to your card ..its So beautiful ,loved the layering and vintage look .different colors rather than usual pink n reds :)

  25. So sad about those people stuck in the floods. We just had our first snow storm of the season and were without power for only a few hours. That was really no hardship at all.

Your card is beautiful. I love the distressing you did on the postcard. I don't think I have seen a vintage design from you before. You pulled it off like a pro.

    Blessing Hugs,
