Cardboard Recycling into a Mini Book

Recycled Cardboard Mini Book
Hi friends this year I am taking mini steps into mini album making and a mini book such as this one made from a 12 x 12 inch paper is the perfect beginner's project as it's quick and easy to complete without making you feel overwhelmed!
One Sheet Mini Book
This little 3.5 x 3.5 inches mini has 16 pages and 7 pockets for tags and tickets. The best thing about this design is that it is perfect to showcase a single 12 x 12 inch pretty pattern paper you may be hoarding for ages!
And the added bonus is you don't really need to use expensive chipboard to make the covers as its an ideal opportunity to recycle a sturdy cardboard box like the one below!

Here is the video tutorial

Inked the heat embossed parchment flowers in 2 shades for a two toned effect to create my flower and added heat embossed golden leaves for a bit of glamour.
Heat Embossed Flower
Metallic embellishments are so fun to add to mini books since unlike cards mini books can take on a bit of  the heavy weight stuff you have in your crafty stash!
Metallic Hearts and Arrow
What is a romantic project without a dash of red and a bit of gold !! Hehe but I think I did go overboard with the red glitter goo!!What do you think....?
The metallic corners [from Vishakha Mittal] had a bronze look originally and I gave it a rubbing with inka gold to change its color.
Glitter and Gold
The pattern paper I used had lovely floral hearts and it was fun to add a touch of pristine white with the heat embossed flowers and a dash of greenery with "over the edge" leaf stamping on the edges of the pages.
One Sheet Mini Book
The book gave me the ideal chance to use some lovely metallic antique brads Vishakha Mittal had sent me!
Metallic Accents
Love the subtle texture these metal knobs add to the inside pages and one's fingers immediately reach out to caress them!
 Metallic Brads
And the view below shows how the pages and the cute tags look!!

I hope you liked my little mini and here are links to 2 other mini books I had shared earlier

  3. Cked out the Mixed Media Mini Book link and will give this a try. I like the idea of using elegant paper for this. I'm figuring you used a circle punch to half cut the ends of the paper to be able to slip in the photos or tags. Have a BEE-utiful day!

  6. Ok I went to Jess' tutorial and am confused as to how the inner pages are arranged to open up correctly. I see you indicate there are 16 pages & 7 pockets. When I line up the pages and glue the end of the first & last to the covers and glue the 1st to the 2nd, 2nd to 3rd & 3rd to 4th count I do not come up with 16 pages and 7 pockets. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong. Have a BEE-utiful day.

    1. Melissa dont glue down the papers completely but just the edges so that you have pockets. I found using thin double sided tape made the inner pockets more uniform in size and yes as to your earlier query I did use a circle punch to make the opening for easy removal and insertion of tags

    3. Ok. Using a piece of 12" x 12" white cardstock to practice on. I did not count the first piece since it is glued to the inside of the front cover & the last piece since it is glued to the inside of the back cover so have 14 pages. Will do edgegluing so that I'll have pockets. What is confusing me is the arrangement of the 4 folded parts. Jess's tutorial shows the 2nd folded part upwards (not sure if this explains it well(. I'll watch video link. Have a BEE-utiful day!

    5. Watched the video link you provided and will give it a try. The problem I had with Jess's tutorial was putting the 4 parts together. Sasha in her video cuts the paper (calling it pants) and then shows how she folds it and glues it so I'll get me another 12" x 12" piece of white cardstock and give it a try. Have a BEE-utiful day!
