Paper Rose Tutorial and Guest DT at You had me at Craft

Paper Roses Tutorial
Thrilled to share that I am guest DT at You Had Me at Craft Alex blog -- I have loved visiting her linky parties-- you get the most awesome ideas and inspirations and when I was chosen to be DT at her website I was super thrilled.
Finally sharing the tutorial  for the paper roses I used in these frames.
This punch craft rose is in a way easier than the Heart punch rose  whose tutorial is given here: Heart punch Rose Tutorial
How to make the Paper Rose
Flower Punch [ optional- use a rough template if you dont have this flower punch]
White Glue
Scissors
Round tipped pen or embossing tool or any object with a smooth round end

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
To make the central rose you need just 3 five-petalled flowers so if you are drawing or tracing out a template  its pretty easy .
Make slits as shown towards the center of the flower .Apply glue at the cut edge .
Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Overlap each petal over the other and stick. You can make the cuts at the start or keep making cuts as you overlap the petals
Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
After overlapping the petals you will get a conical flower.
Tip- overlap petals keeping your finger underneath for support as shown- makes it easier and gives a good shape to your flowers.
Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Gently shape the petal edges bu rolling over a pen , knitting needle or embossing tool-- whatever you can find as long as it gets the job done fast and easy!

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Make the next layer in a similiar fashion but start off with one petal chopped off.

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Glue the overlapping petals

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
For the 2nd layer I found cut as you go and stick easier than making the cuts at the start.

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Shape the petal edges

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Stick the layers together .Tip: use a round object to shape the center as you stick.

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
For the center of the paper rose - you need 3 cut petals

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Roll one petal as shown

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Glue the lower part to form a bud

Punchcraft Roses Tutorial
Roll the edges of the other 2 petals

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Pinch them as shown

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Stick them around your bud and your central rose part is done

Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
Assemble your rose positioning your petals as desired.
Punchcraft Paper Roses Tutorial
For the large rose- I used total 5 petals. To the above rose stuck 2 more five- petal flowers as a base.
Here are the projects in which I used these punchcraft roses

I hope this paper rose tutorial was easy to follow. Its much easier than the photos-- Taking photos for this tutorial took more time than making all the flowers! Do leave me your comments.

This is a great project. I don't have this punch, but I can cut flowers from one of the Cricut cartridges. I am very impressed. I'll show you my outcome. Just wondering if it will work using regular quality cardstock or if it should be lighter weight. I was thinking...we could even use ink on the edges to give the flowers added dimension. Beautiful job! Thanks for sharing.

Priya the small flowers are 5 cm and the large ones 7-8 cm
Patti such a nice idea to add dew- will try that next time
