Homemade Hair Clips

Homemade Hair Clips

Clay Craft
When you have a young daughter at home you are in perpetual need of hair accessories in all types and colors. And somehow my kiddo is quite fussy about what goes in her hair!!! Letting my daughter make her own hair clips  was a fun and useful craft indeed .
What you need to make Hair clips at home
Plain hair clips-plain hair clips are quite cheap while the fancier they are the pricier they get
Embellishments :plastic flowers, rhinestones, sequins, Clay , felt , foam or what not!!
Adhesive- I used the quick glue gun .
Here you can see my daughter choosing the embellishments to make her hair clips.

Homemade Hair Clips
She wanted to make red hair clips to match her school uniform
Homemade Hair Clips
All put together even I was surprised at how cute the black clip looked once transformed!
Homemade Hair Clips
She also wanted to use up some clay flowers in her hair clip
Clay Flowers
I let her choose which plain hair clip to beautify and the yellow rose looked quite cheerful!
Clay Craft
These roses and leaves are made from AMOS clay ,are quite sturdy and resist being squashed!
Clay Craft
I also made a hair clip for me using the playdough flowers!!
Play dough Flowers
The glue gun was used to stick the playdough roses on the homemade hair clip.

Here is how the hair clip looks .Here is the tutorial link to make the play dough flowers :Play dough Rose Tutorial
Homemade Hair Clips
My daughter has "2 month long" holidays now and I am juggling my time between my profession and keeping my little one company so I am not able to manage much time online so do forgive me for being a lax blogger friend!
Do tell me how you liked this simple craft.

  1. Pretty embellished hair clips. When my daughter was younger she let me put clips & such in her hair but as she got older she did not care for them. Now she likes hats instead.

  14. Every age has its charms ! My daughter-11 years now -use only a plastic band and she don't like me to touch her hair unless I help her to curl it.
But these beautiful clips turn a little girl into a princess and those are good memories as the time passes by !

    1. Dear Jaya, I got the glue gun from Ebrahim street parallel to commercial street from a small electrical/ stationary shop in august 2011 for 280 only and then the sticks costed only 12 each. Now everywhere I asked they charge 15 per stick and the gun cost ranges from 300 to 1000! Mine is a Chineese brand and is awesome... no issues...once I forgot to switch it off for 3 hours and still it didnt burn its wires or anything!!
