Swinging Card Tutorial
|
Swinging Card |
This Swinging card is a super easy card to make. The punch craft bunny swings across the garden in this fun interactive card
|
Swinging Card |
Interactive cards are a big hit with kids but I am sure big kids like us would love it too! The scenery is something I recycled from a children's toy kit and added some punchcraft flowers and leaves.

How to make a swinging card
Materials Required
Card Stock
Image to swing
Split pin or brad
Punch-hole- optional- just gives a neater hole for your swinging card mechanism.
Create a swinging arm
Fold over some card stock lengthwise and glue it to get a strong arm for your swinging card.I scored a 2 inch width card stock in half ,folded and glued it .
Choose how much you want the image to swing and cut your swinging arm accordingly.
Punch a hole at one end to slip in your brad/ split pin
|
Swinging Card Tutorial |
Attach your image to the other end of the swinging arm with glue or double sided tape.
|
Swinging Card Tutorial |
Thread your split pin or brad through the hole in the swinging arm and the front of your card.
Mark the hole site on your card and poke a small hole to slip in your brad.
To hide the split pin/ brad swinging mechanism
attach a scenery using double sided tape and you are done! [The right side of the picture shows the back of my scenery with double sided tape].The double sided tape gives enough room for the interactive mechanism of your swinging card.
|
Swinging Card |
I hid the swinging card mechanism on the inside of the card by attaching a scenery . The balloons are punch outs and the clouds are handcut from felt . I love the "every cloud has a silver lining " proverb so added some silver paper to the clouds.
|
Swinging Card |
Added another punch-art bunny on a hill. The fence is hand cut from a recycled envelope and I experimented with distressing for the first time [Hooray!!]
I need help from my blogger pals for "distressing"! I am not good at inks and paints and was tempted to try this technique only after I won some distress ink and had to use it !! So lots of advise needed!
Do tell me how you like this fun swinging card.

ReplyDeleteYour cards are always so full of cool stuff...and I like Anita's idea of a book too! You come up with the most fun ideas and clever tutorials. I think you could easily fill a book. So much to look at with this card....I always seem some little detail I missed when I come back for my 2nd and 3rd views.
ReplyDeleteOh Diane you tell the sweetest things!!! I am grinning from ear to ear. Your kids sure are lucky to have such an encouraging soul as mum!
Deletewhat an adorable card that is.
ReplyDeleteFabulous Sonia well done what a lovely card I love it , the colours are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Easter Sunday and Monday Hugs Elaine
How cute is that card! Love the swinging bunny and the punch art! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteYou can use ink daubers to apply inks in so that it has a soft look...if you can't get ink daubers you could cut up a fine sponge to use...or maybe a sponge makeup applicator. Tim Holtz also has a wood distressing tool that has sponge pads that are secured to it which are fabulous for distressing.
I think your inking looks great! Inkpad to paper also works but can be tough with intricate pieces.
And I agree...you should put all your projects and tutorials in a book or on a dvd! :)
Susan
Susan the sponge makeup applicator idea is great-- I have a make up kit that I dont use and it will be good!! Thank You so much dear
