Dear friends ,Thank you so much for the encouraging words on my Tips for a Better Blog post ! I had put in a lot of work on that post and it feels nice that many of you found it useful. Sharing a simple handmade photoframe made by recycling a desktop calendar

The butterfly was stamped and heat embossed and then water-colored.These Sizzix butterflies and the Cheery Lynn  butterflies are my favorite! You can see more of these butterflies in my fairy land diorama tutorial

Sharing  something which is making me sad
Blogging and sharing crafty tutorials and interacting with my blog readers has always given me such joy in the past  but I am  rather saddened today as I found one of my photoframe tutorials published on a website with all my watermarks erased from the photos. This is the 5th time this sort of thing is happening...writing tutorials takes so much time and effort and it is so disheartening when people simply copy whole posts and post to their websites...so depressing !
Do guide....feeling rather miserable !
Update : I Contacted the admin of the offending website and they have now removed the copied article...that is some consolation!

Supplies : Dies : Spellbinders lace hearts,Spellbinders majestic labels 25, Memory Box rounded fence, Marianne bird, Sizzix Tim Holtz tattered florals, Heartfelt creations leaf,Sizzix butterfly , Cheery Lynn  butterfly, Cheery Lynn  fanciful flourish

  3. What a beautiful photoframe. The flowers are very pretty. And I share your feeling about people who take the credit for creations they did not make. Indeed very sad. It would give me no satisfaction to share other people's creations without a link to the author or maker.

  4. Sorry that someone copied & posted your tutorial when the correct thing to do is to provide a link to your site and give credit to you. I've had the same thing happen so I know how you feel. Pretty flowers that remind me of Poppies. Like the embossed Butterfly.

  7. This is absolutely gorgeous, Sonia!! The frame looks amazing!! I love the beautiful flowers!! All of the details are perfect!!

Ugh, I can't believe someone stole your tutorial and published it as their own. That is so horrible and mean. It's sad that things like that happen among fellow crafters. Maybe you should make your watermark larger and cover more of your design so it's not so easy to erase. I'm sorry it happened to you my friend. Hugs!!

    1. Lisa...I dont think it was not done by a crafter this time as it was published on a big site and they have taken care to erase my watermark from each photo on the tutorial . When crafters copy and publish most times they dont bother to remove the watermark. 2 times people published the whole tutorial with link back even though that is also not correct if permission was not taken. You are right about making a larger watermark-- I was thinking on the same lines too but it will remove so much from the aesthetics of the photo.Thank you so much for the support Lisa...only a fellow blogger can understand what I feel

  14. Great project. The flowers are lovely and so is the butterfly.I am so sorry to hear about the copying.I have no suggestions to make.I agree that a large watermark will just spoil the picture but I can't think of any other solution.Don't let it discourage you though.Keep doing what you do,that is your strength and nobody can take that away from you.

    1. Thank you so much Pallavi for the kind words..I have ignored a little bit of copying in the past as sometimes people did it in ignorance but this was too much ...someone had gone to all the trouble to erase all watermarks and links and that too I am sure it was not a crafter!

  15. Hi Sonia, this is a lovely frame in your fav pink !!! It indeed is bad that people steal other's work, I think you should name the site and let everyone know as this may not have been the first time they did something like this !! I know you put so much effort into a tute making it easy to follow !! I have seen your pics posted by others on the fevicryl Hobby Ideas FB page too !!

    1. Thank you Suman. I am purposely not naming the site as they are doing all this to get traffic from google so that they earn money from ads on their site and the funny thing when I contacted them was they wrote to me saying send us the link we will link to you...that was not the point at all so I asked them to take the whole post down and they did! About FHI...well that can be forgiven in my book...some poor soul sharing to get likes!!

This is another beautiful project. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I know how much goes into writing tutorials, it's hard. I've never mastered that part of creating. I always appreciate when an artist has a tutorial for us. It's the "few" bad apples that are going to ruin things for the rest of us. If I visit a site and find out they have stolen someone else's work, I no longer have anything to do with them.

  26. As to your situation, what a silly lot of trouble that person went to when she could have just copied a link to your tutorial. It must be a very troubled person who needs to pretend to be something she is not in order to feel better about herself.

    1. Ha Ha Teresa your words make me smile...yes it was in a way idiotic isnt it...a link would be the easiest way to do it but they went to all the trouble to steal the whole writeup and erase the watermarks!! And the funny bit is they have a big "Copyright" mark on their website!!

Sorry to hear about the copying. It's just amazing what people will do to take credit for other folks' hard work and creativity! It is so hard to believe someone would have the gall to erase your watermark! Things like that just boil my blood!! I'm glad you were able to complain and get the tutorial taken down. How easy it would have been to ask your permission... Well, don't give up...there are always a few bad apples in every bunch, right? Just remember that most of the basket is very good!

  42. Sweet friend, I was thinking about you last night while I was crafting to meet a deadline (I'm really bad with deadlines!) and was looking forward to visiting you today. What a joy to have a nice comment waiting for me... it made my heart sparkle that we were on each other's mind's around the same time. :o) Your frame is stunning! Each element emanates with your love and joy for crafting. I too love Cheery Lynn butterflies.. and your flowers are always amazing.

I am really saddened to hear about the tutorial stealing. :( I hate how often things like this happen. So many colorists have their images stolen from their cards and then used to enter contests... and there are so many other circumstances. I do not understand how anyone can find joy knowing the praise they're receiving is NOT earned! Keep heart knowing that you have so many people who love and appreciate you. I hope people stop taking credit for your hard work, my friend.

    Hugs and blessings,
    Karen

  43. This isn't right! I know exactly how it feels our stuff to be used as their own. I had a horrible experience recently. My picture was used to create fake FB profiles! FB wouldn't take down the fake profile as soon as I reported. I had to ask many friends to report the account. I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Pls do not let it not continue what you do though. You have loads of ideas and talent and thousands of us are benefiting by it.
