Star Effect Cards

Star Effect Cards
Hi friends it feels nice to blog after a hiatus. I had injured my hand and was unable to craft but now I am much better and sharing a simple but fun card called the  Star Effects card.
These 3 Dimensional cards are easy to make and you just need a 6 x 6 piece of pattern paper to make it!The  component parts  slot into each other to create a dimensional card which can be sent in the  mail too!
Dress My Craft Magical Unicorns
I used the  Magical Unicorns papers and dicut motifs from Dress My Craft to make this gorgeous card for my daughter as a form of encouragement during exam season [she is having her final exams now and is working really hard!]
Floral Guitar Dies
I used the  Floral Guitar dies from Dress My Craft to create the  gorgeous delicate guitars in this card. They are a set of 2 dies which can be layered to create beautiful designs! You can either ink the  background die or cut it out of a different colored paper to bring out the  beauty of the  2 layered guitar!
Floral Guitar Die Cuts
I chose background colors of the  guitars to match the  colors in the  pattern paper and added cute unicorns and  whimsical castles to create a Magical Star Effects Card.
Star Effect Cards
The 2nd card is more sober and was in fact my first experiment with this style of card and I made it for my husband as he loves music and flowers!
Star Effect Card
I used papers from DCWV and the  lovely guitar dies to make this Star Effects Card.

I hope you like both the  ideas

Easel Drawer Box Card

Easel Drawer Box Card
Hi friends....have you ever made a card you felt happy about when you made it but months later thought...what a lame card and could never bring yourself to send it anyone?!!
Well I have quite a few of those "what was I thinking when I made that" type of cards in my collection ...and have been challenging myself to rework some of them rather than throw them away!
So here is the ancestor of this easel drawer card... a  Glittery Card  I just couldn't bring myself to send to anyone despite being in my stash since 2016!
Glitter Card
So I went to work on it using handmade flowers and dozens of die cuts and made a Birthday Card [as my DT project for  Cuttlebugmania  Challenge where the theme is Birthday]!
Wanted to play in a few favorite Challenges and so converted it into an easel card with blue and green color theme and dozens of butterflies for Mrs A's Butterfly Challenge !

Easel Drawer Box Card
I still didnt like the card much and so decided to try and wave a magic wand once again and tried to make it into an easel card with a drawer box!
Easel Drawer Box Card
My poor card was already quite bulky so rather than risk making a wobbly card stock drawer I very ambitiously made the drawer box from chipboard!
Easel Drawer Box Card
And that was easier said than done as it involved endless measuring and re- measuring, gluing and re-gluing!!!....Ufff...this sure wasn't one of those easy projects!
Easel Drawer Box Card
And though I am not a 100% happy with the overall project I do love how the drawer part turned out!
The drawer pull has a metal butterfly I transformed into a shabby white beauty using Stampendous embossing powder.
Altered Butterfly
It did turn out gorgeous and shabby!!
Easel Drawer Box Card
The drawer box has blue crystal flowers as feet[ you can see the same Crystal flowers in this post : Crystal flower bouquet Tutorial ] and butterflies galore all around it.
Easel Drawer Box Card
The easel part rests on a pearl - rhinestone border and a gorgeous satin flower trim. When you lift up the easel...you will see birthday wishes once again and gorgeous peacock blue butterflies.
Easel Drawer Box Card
And on turning the card- box ...more birthday wishes!!!
Easel Drawer Box Card
I may be weird but after all the work I think I like the backside of the card drawer box more than the front!!
Easel Drawer Box Card
If you stayed  with me till here without falling asleep or running away...Thank you so much !!!

Owl Shaped Thank you Card

Owl Shaped Card
Hi friends sharing another little Owl shaped card. This time popped up the polka dotted wings on a wing cut out of black glitter foam and bordered each wing with glitter foam leafy birder cut from the Poppystamps Emory Oval Frame die.

Experimented combining different dies to make a simple flower[ used the Cheery Lynn rose to cut the flower petals from dotted pattern paper and the Poppystamps  large icelenad poppy die to make the glitter central pollen.

Fancy Fold Step Card

Fancy Fold Step Card
Hi friends , are you surprised to see so many posts from me?  I am on a determined spree to use up hoarded craft supplies. Do you have pretty papers that you love too much that you can't bear to use them...? Hehe I am big time guilty of that one and hope some of my friends can relate!!
Fancy Fold Step Card
I used hoarded fall themed papers not only on the base of my card but to also make the embellishments like the die cut tree, the punched flowers and  the tea cup! I die cut the Memory Box tree twice and layered them offsetting a bit to give extra volume and depth and added some cute resin flower embellishments[ which again I loved too much that I have hung on to them for years!!]
Handmade Paper Flower
The  Magnolia was made with a Spellbinders die and a subtle shimmer added using a special glitter called Crystal Clear. This beautiful glitter[available in India and also sold by the Heartfelt creations, USA] is made by my talented friend  Rajni Chawla   and she was so kind to send it to me to try out.Thank you so much Rajni!
Fancy Fold Step Card
I added rhinestone swirls above my tea cup and a shiny chocolate disc on the saucer!
Fancy Fold Step Card
Here is the side view showing classic fall elements on each step : acorns, a pumpkin, a lazy cat and fall leaves!

Light Up Pop Up Box Card Tutorial

Light Up Pop Up Box Card
Hi friends, with nature's forces playing havoc at many parts of the world including Mumbai ,in India....I would like to share a card which echoes the sentiment "May the Sun shine brightly and bring cheer".
Light Up Pop Up Box Card
This Pop Up Card has multiple layers of sparkling clouds, cheerful hot-air balloons floating up in the sky [on acetate strips] and a gorgeous sparkling rainbow! I went an extra bit in this one and made the Sun light up on pressing one cloudy corner!
Light Up Pop Up Box Card
I wanted to convey that no matter how cloudy and gloomy the scene is , the sun always comes up!
Light Up Pop Up Box Card
How to make a Light Up Card
The easiest way to make a light up card is using Chibitronics supplies. You can buy Chibitronics starter kits if you like but it's more economical to pick up just the essential components separately which are
Chibitronics Kit
  1. LED Lights - I used Chibitronics  sticker LED lights as these are adhesive backed, tiny ,lightweight, come in various colors . If you dont get these in your country you can always use regular LEDs but they will be bulky and trickier to use. The Chibitronics LEDs being fairly flat and tiny make them ideal for paper-crafters and you can even use a couple to light up a card or layout!
  2. Conductive tape - I used Copper tape by Chibitronics  as I decided that other electrical conductor options like aluminium foil and bare wire would be too tricky to use though technically they would work! This particular copper tape is adhesive on one side so ideal to use in paper-crafts and can be cut with a scissors or even be torn with your hands!
How to make a Light Up Card

  3. Battery for the LED - I used a Micro Lithium 3V cell battery I picked up from my local electrical shop.
I have a video Tutorial showing the basic steps on how I made the card. It is not as detailed a Tutorial as I usually do as it was very tricky to photograph the circuit making steps  so do forgive me !
Light Up Pop Up Box Card
The Pop Up Card folds flat for mailing but I think I would rather hand deliver this special card as I would love to see the recipient's reaction!!
Light Up Pop Up Box Card
I would like to especially thank all my crafty blogger and social media friends who without knowing have helped me see the sunshine on many a cloudy day! Thank you !!

Coffee Stair Step Card

Coffee Stair Step Card
Hi friends....sharing my last card for the Fall Coffee Lover's Blog Hop. I used a favorite design...the stair step card made using the Spellbinders Happy die.
Coffee Stair Step Card
I made the creamy coffee cup by used the "icing" from a Marianne Cupcake set a freehand drawn glass and  a Spellbinders die cut to make the sleeve of my coffee cup! The bourbon biscuit was made using air-drying clay and a Plaid mold.
Coffee Cup
My card has a lot of cheerful yellow and orange!
Coffee Stair Step Card
The "Thanks" was made using a Winnie and Walter die cut and all the leaves on this fall card were made using stamps from Winnie and Walter In Bloom Elsa's Flora Stamp Set and embossed using WOW Metallic Gold sparkle embossing powder.
Coffee Stair Step Card
In this view you can see all the cute little woodland creatures I added to each step...there is a squirrel , a fox, a rabbit and an eagle.
Coffee Stair Step Card
The best thing about this card design is it folds flat and can be mailed!

Gatefold Owl Card

Gatefold Owl Card
Hi friends, I just couldn't resist making another Owl Card...especially since I found to my amazement that so many of you loved owls!!
This gatefold Owl card was so easy and fun to make since I used a Sizzix Owl  Fold A Long die , part of the candy I had won from Katarina...blogland is an amazing generous place!
Heat Embossed Flower
The flower and leaves I used at the bottom is from Winnie and Walter In Bloom Elsa's Flora Stamp Set .I used WOW Metallic Gold Sparkle embossing powder on the leaves...its one of my favorite embossing powders!
Owl Shaped Card
My owl has a  pattern paper base [ details below] and  details made using foam. I love to use foam to give light weight dimension in  papercraft projects ! Sticking it however can be tricky...you can use tacky tape/ Aleene's tacky glue or fabric glue.
Gatefold Owl Card
Since this card is for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop I wanted to add a nice cup of Cappuccino inside my card but I didn't have any cup/ glass die so I  improvised and made a creamy frothy cup of coffee with dies I had in my stash!
Coffee Cup
I drew the glass freehand and used the "icing" from a Marianne Cupcake set to make the frothy cream of my coffee! Cut up a Spellbinders die cut to make the sleeve of my coffee cup! I am so happy with the  way it has turned out!
Creamy Coffee
And here is my Owl Fancy Fold card sitting happily amongst the flowers in our terrace garden.
