Thermocol Craft Card |
Teachers Day is celebrated on different days in different parts of the world and in India it is celebrated on Sept 5th. Sharing a Swinging Quilled Teachers Day card with some unusual recycling .
These are the materials I used to make this card- a thermocol tray [our supermarket fruits come in these dainty thermocol trays and I always save them !], a used paper bag and medication pamphlets.
|
Thermocol craft |
Thermocol is a fantastic material to carve- all you need is a sharp craft knife and imagination!. I cut the flower vases free hand-- any mistakes are easily correctable by knife carving. Thermocol easily sticks to paper using standard white glue and its so light weight you have a fantastic card embellishment without adding to the weight of your thermocol craft card.
|
Thermocol Craft Card |
The flower stems have been cut from the dark green medication pamphlet-- as doctors we get tons of these and instead of throwing them away I save the thin ones for quilling and the thick ones for use in school projects and card making.
|
Thermocol Craft Card |
Here is the closeup of the quilled flower stuck on the white side of a medication pamphlet. The quilled flower is on the central swinging panel of our teacher's day card
|
Quilled Flower |
I punched out the butterflies from medication pamphlet again-- many of these pamphlets have such a lovely glossy white finish it looks good when recycled in cards.
|
Thermocol Craft Card |
The other side of the swinging card has again lots of recycling using paper from the paper bag and medication pamphlets
|
Recycled Paper Card |
Here is the patterned paper I cut out from the paper bag. I had used this paper earlier in my spinning card too.
|
Recycled Card |
This cute 3 D decoupage bear is on the central swinging panel of the card.
|
3 D decoupage Card |
I love to make this type of swinging card- its fun to decorate and stands on its own so prettily. I hope you liked my thermocol recycling- so next time you get a thermocol plate or tray dont throw it away there are lots of stuff you can make with them. Here is
tutorial to make thermocol flowers.

Dr Sonia, you and your daughter are so crafty and resourceful. Where I live we cannot recycle those things and you have just given us all a way to recycle them ourselves. I bet we can use markers on them as well. May have to try that. NancyD
ReplyDeleteWOW! that is beautiful
ReplyDeleteGreetings Baukje
very creative...flowers are just awesome and bear too..
ReplyDeleteWonderful recycled items. I especially like the glossy butterflies & beads on the butterflies. The trays we get here mostly are yellow in color and are what meat is on so I'll have to see if they can be washed clean to be reused.
