Sliding Gift Card Holder |
Hi friends...with the gifting season nearly upon us I am sharing a special sliding Gift Card holder in the shape of a cup. It has a double sliding mechanism and when you pull the frothy cream out slides a sentiment panel and gift card!
Sliding Gift Card Holder |
I made the frothy cream by stencilling with Distress Inks through the Crealies Cardzz 5A die set and embossing with Stampendous embossing powder.
The sentiment panel is attached to the frothy cream and the gift card slides out through a separate slot cut on the front of the cup using the Crealies gift card slider dies.
Sliding Gift Card Holder |
On pulling the frothy cream topping on the coffee cup the gift card slides out of its slot and behind it slides out a separate card where you can stamp a sentiment.
Here is a video showing the slider in action
I used ribbon to design the sliding mechanism and when you read the steps below you will be surprised at how simple it is.
Here is how you can make this sliding gift card with sliding sentiment
Sliding Gift Card Holder Tutorial |
You need 2 cup shapes cut in sturdy card stock.
I die cut 2 cups using the Crealies Cardzz 05 die.
Sliding Gift Card Holder Tutorial |
Cut a slot in the top of the cup in such a way that a gift card can slide in and out easily. I made the slot using the Crealies Gift card slider die Xtra No.21.
Sliding Gift Card Holder Tutorial |
Slide a gift card through the slider slot and using this as a guide add adhesive foam tape on the edges and lower part of the cup as shown below
Sliding Gift Card Holder Tutorial |
Die cut 2 "whipped cream" using the Crealies Cardzz 05 A and sandwich a tag in between them using foam tape to give bulk and strength. You will have to experiment a bit with the length so that it fits within the cup! Stick a ribbon on the upper part of the cup as shown above.
Sliding Gift Card Holder Tutorial |
Slide in the gift card and trim the ribbon so that it protrudes out about an inch or so. Apply sticky tape to the backside of the tag[ shown in red].
Put the cream + tag on the top of the cup and glue the ribbon to the tag.
Sliding Gift Card Holder Tutorial |
Reinforce the "ribbon - tag" adhesion with extra tape.
Sliding Gift Card Holder Tutorial |
Now your slider mechanism is ready to assemble. I stamped a cup with gorgeous coffee beans using the Crealies Bits and Pieces No 119 and stuck it over the first cup holding the slider mechanism.
