Handmade Photo frame |
Photo frames have held such a special attraction for me even before I started crafting and making my own ! Recently I picked up a Photo frame kit for my daughter from my local craft shop[Itsy Bitsy]. My kiddo had fun sticking the parts of the frame together and sticking the beads on the photo frame.
|
Beaded Photoframe |
The kit yielded a simple beaded frame and of course we had to add our own special touches!
The shiny look is courtesy a generous coating of modpodge over the beads and this helped to really stick the beads which had a nasty tendency to keep falling off!
Also a bit of silver glitter glue here and there gave it a bit of sparkle and glamour!
The hearts border was made using my new Martha Stewart hearts punch [this MS punch is super new but giving me problems as its giving ragged edges which I have to snip off with scissors - a big disappointment and am heart broken !- any suggestions friends?]

On a happier note ,I made my first ribbon rose !![So happy as fabric crafts and me dont get along usually!] Also made my first fancy pin by recycling beads from a broken bracelet .

Ribbon Rose on Beaded Photo frame |
Our photo frame has a hearts theme so added a heart charm on another handmade pin using the trusty glue gun.
|
Hearts Pin |
Have seen so many lovely pins in blog land and it was thrilling for me to finally make my own for our photo frame

ReplyDeleteHi Sonia.. this is soo pretty .. i love all the little beads and that heart border.
ReplyDeleteI was told to sharpen punches - punch through tin foil or sandpaper ... This might help
Lisa x
Thank You Lisa--I was so disappointed as this was only the 2nd MS punch I have bought so far and its new too..has put me off buying MS punches!
DeleteVery cute photo frame!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Dr. Sonia. Oh wow, this is fantastic, and I am sure you could read my mind, because right now on my desk is a blank photo frame, which I am going to decorate, but yours is just amazing. Gorgeous colours and detail. Youa re just fantastic.
ReplyDeleteIf it is any consolation to you, I have the exact same punch, and it does the same thing to me as well, so you are not alone.
Have a lovely weekend.
Love Sandra xx

so beautiful & girly..I must have one for my room :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful embellished frame. I have had problems with Martha Stewart punches. Phoned Martha Stewart 800# which happens to be the Wilton Cake # here in the US. Phoned about a Fall/Autumn Leaves edge punch in which the metal broke apart. They still had some of the punch. They emailed me a postage paid FEDEX shipping label for me to return the punch & they mailed me a new one. I have a Fiskars one that broke recently and the stores are out of it. Not phoned Fiskars yet but may do so to see if they have a replacement.

ReplyDeletePaula
That is so pretty. I love your ribbon rose. Too bad about the punch. I thought the Martha Stewart punches were supposed to be good quality punches. I know they sure are expensive
ReplyDeleteThank You Ann...yes I thought they were the best quality too but many of my Jef ones cut smoother than this particular one!
DeleteThis is so beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Sonia - Really impressed with your creative inputs on our kit. Love the glitter touch and love that you're doing this with your daughter. Don't know how you get the time to craft so much. Thanks for entering into our challenge. All the best!

Deletewow what a blingy thing.awesome.try using an aluminium foil to punch.be careful that it doesn't get stuck inside.should work

ReplyDeleteSo very girly
ReplyDeletevery pretty photoframe..i think u have used MS punch lace so beautifully , its difficult to imagine this frame without it !!
ReplyDeleteWow Doc....super ! I adore those pins and have been eyeing to make those since so long..you've inspired me !
ReplyDeleteJust fantastic Dr. Sonia! I love the frame and all its elements. So nice that you made your own pin and flower too. My mom used to tell me to punch through wax paper a few times to improve the punching. I don't know if that will help in this case but it is worth a try. NancyD
ReplyDeleteThis is wondeful- I've been messing round with photo frames too and I love it. I love the beads. It is amazing what mod podge can do.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely beautiful! I'll soon be doing my first altered frame, but it won't be as fancy.. this is a true work of art and I'm glad the creative process was such a fun time! I'm sorry your MS punch was being a pain. Sadly I have found her punches to be hit and miss.. a part of my favorite doily lace edge punch broke shortly after using it (I need to punch my own holes the proper size to avoid breaking the design) and every monarch butterfly needs to be trimmed one one wing. The lace heart border has been perfect. So frustrating when things don't work properly, though! I will say your did an expert job perfecting whatever lacked with it. :) (And the ribbon rose is gorgeous!) Stunning work, as always. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings!
Thank You so much Karen your comment has helped me to tone down my frustration about the punch but I think in futureI will not go spend so much on an MS punch again at least not unless I can test it out!
DeleteThis is gorgeous!! The punch you used is fabulous and I love the ribbon rose!! What a beautiful beaded frame :)

Lots of elements here on this frame. Love your addition of the pins. I'm addicted to making these too. Your daughter is getting very professional in her crafting. Heard a tip of punching with tin foil helps with the cutting blade. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteThank You Mrs A my first set of pins and I had fun!
DeleteSo lovely and feminine! I used to teach scrapbooking classes and we taught to punch through aluminum foil a few times to "sharpen" the punch. Wax paper works well for punches that are sticking.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Susan
Thank You so much Susan

Lots of joy,
Corrinne
Beautiful frame, Dr. Sonia, and I do love your fabric rose. I have mostly success with the punches, but occasionally a problem arises and I've had to throw away 2-3. I've had a few to lock up and when they do, I give them a whack on the top and it unlocks them. Like you, I have to snip a bit sometimes but it is o.k. when I'm finished. Yours looks great. Hope you don't become too discouraged with the punches.
ReplyDeleteThank You for the kind words Benzi...actually the experience has put me off the expensive punches for now!I for one hate to waste paper and when the punches dont work well we do waste paper too!
DeleteSimply, simply gorgeous!! Wow. I love the colors and the flowers, just beautiful.
