Woodland Creatures

 Woodland Card
Hi friends, sharing 2 simple scenic window cards I made using Winnie and Walter stencils and dies and Heartfelt creations stamps.
I made 2 variations of the card using Distress Inks  , applying Ranger Multimedium matte over the stencil and sprinkling Distress glitter over the stenciled part to get a subtle shimmer
Stenciling
Added a stamped and water-colored deer family and created a frame over the woodland scene using Winnie and Walter  Essentials Audrey Cutaways dies and Spellbinders Curved Matting Basics die.

Now a bit about the inspiration behind these cards : We stay in the bustling city of Bangalore in India and since my husband and I are huge nature lovers we love to escape into the lap of nature whenever we get a chance.
Our favorite holiday destination is the forests of Masinagudi in the state of Tamil Nadu....it is I must say the most relaxing place on earth with lush flora and abundant fauna !![Hehe sorry for sounding like an advertisement!!]
Here are some of the beautiful animals we met!
Indian Peacock
We usually stay at a resort right in the core area of the Tiger reserve and are always blessed to have myriad jungle animals visit us!The peacock is the Indian national bird and Masinagudi abounds in these magnificent creatures! We met this beauty on the roadside and he came right upto the car window to say Hi!!
Spotted Deer
We always see huge families of the Spotted Deer/ Chital deer and no matter how many times I have seen these elegant adorable creatures I can never have enough of their sheer beauty! They are so abundant in Masinagudi that they often come right upto our cottage and peek at us with curious stares!
Spotted Deer
One of the resident species is this beautiful woodpecker called Black Rumped Flameback Woodpecker and though they are easy to spot they are quite tough to photograph...we were very lucky this time to get a good picture!
Lesser Goldenbacked Woodpecker
And now here is one fella who gave us many many delightful hours just watching him jump from branch to branch and munch nuts!
Indian Giant Squirrel
These squirrels are HUUUGE and in case you are curious you can read more about them here in this wikipedia link :  Indian Giant Squirrel
Indian Giant Squirrel
Not only do they have supercute faces but they have the most gorgeous bushy tails!
Indian Giant Squirrel
And here is one fella who may not look handsome to someone who is not a bird lover but had us squealing in delight...!!! This huge bird is the Malabar Grey Hornbill and though we have gone to Masinagudi earlier too this was the first time we could see him this close!!
Malabar Grey Hornbill
Families of wild boar often come to the resort we stay and though the papa boars can be a bit scary to look at the babies are the cutest!!
Wild Boar Family
And one final picture....the majestic  Indian elephant...simply breathtaking to see in its wild habitat!
Indian Elephant
And that is us....my hubby and I ...we were a bit crazy to plan this holiday as there were predictions of rain but it didnt stop us venturing out into the forest armed with a huge umbrella and our camera!!

I hope I didnt bore you to death!!
