Handmade Diwali Cards |
Hi friends...we are having our festival
Diwali in a few days time and these are the quick and easy cards my daughter and I made for her teachers.
|
Handmade Diwali Cards |
Diwali is called the "
festival of lights" and during this time we light up our homes with little lamps called
diyas [shaped just like the one in the card]. It is so amazing to see !
|
Handmade Diwali Cards |
We made the cards in variations of a rainbow color scheme as Diwali too, like most Indian festivals is a colorful affair with everyone dressing in gorgeous new dresses and making and gifting yummy colorful sweets!!
|
Handmade Diwali Cards |
My daughter used a stencil and distress inks to make the different variations of the cards. I helped in the cutting and matting of the cards!
|
Stencil |
Each stencil card was layered on magenta colored metallic card stock and matted again on white card stock so though simple and flat it has lovely layers to it.
|
Handmade Diwali Cards |
Most of my regular readers know that my daughter has an artistic flair.....well she is experimenting with calligraphy [which she learnt on her own] and wrote the stylish sentiment inside the cards....forgive me for boasting like a proud mom but isnt it cool!!!
|
Handmade Diwali Card |
And that is one set of easy Diwali cards !

Hope you enjoyed our collection!

ReplyDeleteThese are GORGEOUS! LOVING the colors!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDear Dr
ReplyDeleteAs always it is lovely. In Sri Lanka too during vesak we light these lamps and in Sinhala they are called Mati Pahan. Daily I visit your blog and read to learn something. If I know something about crafting it is because of you. Before purchasing too I visit your blog to read up to buy the best. For example the paper cutter which I keep carefully. May the noble triple gem bless you and your family including little Prisha with Gd health, Happiness and wealth. Give my love to the both adorable four leggards as well.
Thank you so much Surekha...your words mean so much to me. Blogging is time consuming and nowadays I am lazy to write long posts but words such as yours reminds me it was not all a waste!!

Beautiful Diwali cards Sonia! Love Prisha's calligraphy. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteDr. Sonia, what a lovely tradition and beautiful cards. I self taught myself calligraphy as an adult many years ago, and address friends wedding invitations and place cards for wedding receptions. You need to keep it up, but I haven't done it in a long time. Your daughter did an excellent job, and would think it odd if you didn't do some bragging! Very nice.
