DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
Hi friends here is a
Handmade Notepad Holder gift idea for coffee and chocolate lovers! It is a cute project which is sturdy enough to hold a fairly thick notepad with space for a pen and closes securely with a magnetic closure!

There is also a dainty fun shaker in the dome of the cup!
These are easy to make and I think they would be a hit if you want to sell them at craft fairs and exhibitions too!
DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial
Materials
- Card stock
- Pattern Paper and Stamps- optional to decorate your cup!
- Scoring Board- optional- otherwise use a blunt pen and scale
- Cup shape- hand cut or use a die- I used the Crealies dies to cut cup shapes from thick card-stock. If you dont have a diecutting machine don't despair the cup shape is fairly simple to handcut too.
- Small magnets- 2 - greatly adds to the fun element so do try to use it!
- Good adhesive - I used UHU ;Scissors
- Shaker elements- optional if you are adding a shaker dome or making a shaker cup

Cut 2 cup shapes from card stock. Score and fold a 2 and 3/4 inch x 1 and 1/2 inch card piece at 1/2 inch and 1 inch . Stick this card stock to the upper edges of the cups to connect them. This gives you a notepad holder which is 1/2 inch thick.
|
DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
On the inside of the flap which will be the top flap stick a small magnet a little away from the edge as shown and cover with pattern paper. You can also hold the magnet in place with a stamped cup or other design as I did in this post :

Now make a pocket for the notepad. Score a 6 and 1/2 x 1 and 1/2 inch card lengthwise at 1/2 and 1 inch.
|
DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
Turn this and score at 2 and 1/4 inch from either end . ..ie at 2 and 1/4 and 4 and 1/4 inch marks on the scoreboard.
|
DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
Make 4 cuts along these scorelines to reach till the central 1/2 inch strip as shown below
|
DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
Fold along the scorelines as shown below
|
DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
Fold on the cut lines to make a cup shape!
|
DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
Stick this on the inside of the back flap at the lower part as shown below
|
DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
To add the magnetic closure- place a magnet over the top flap and apply a glue drop over it.
|
DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
Firmly close the flap and press so that the magnet will stick to the pocket you created on the opposite flap
|
DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
Open the flap and stick pattern paper to secure the magnet and complete the notepad holder pocket

DIY Notepad Holder Tutorial |
I created coffee themed patterns using a variety of coffee themed stamps from Crealies.
I recycled an old notebook to create the notepad for this Coffee Cup!
