Mixed Media Butterfly

Resin Art
Hi friends if you have been crafting for a long time I guess you must have accumulated a lot of bits and bobs which you don't feel like binning but don't really like using either. Sharing an idea to use up those unwanted unused paraphernalia...a mixed media collage project!
Mixed Media
Altered an old brown plastic frame to make this project. Gave multiple coatings of gesso and white paint to myriad ghastly coloured beads and odd embellishments to make the white background .To make the butterfly  I  found I didn't have a lot of pretty pink  embellishments so had fun making new flowers using snippets of shrink plastic.

Brought it all together with a sprinkling of pink flower sequins and a resin pour!

Hope you like this idea

House Shaped Box

House Shaped Box

Hi friends do you sometimes look back on an old project and felt it was downright boring! Well I decided to revamp this somewhat plain paper holder I made  more than 3 yrs back!

House Shaped Box

I love adding handmade flowers to my projects and find making flowers from shrink plastic absolutely fantastic!
Shrink Plastic
There is something magical about cutting a sheet of plain plastic , heating it , oohing and aahing over how it shrinks & shaping it into a beautiful flower!

House Shaped Box
Here is how the box looks with the roof removed!

And hehe though this is a utility item, I admit I don't really use the papers from this holder...this paper holder just sits on my table for me to look at and smile!!

Graduation Photo Framed

Graduation Photo Framed

Hi friends, I started this blog in 2010 to chronicle the various school projects and crafts I made with or for my little one . Many of you have seen her on my blog  and literally seen her grow up over the years. So this is a very special blogpost as I am sharing a frame I made to commemorate my little girl graduating 10th standard [equivalent to O levels]. Not only did she graduate  with flying colours but her school honoured her by presenting her with an award for excellence in academics over the  whole 10 year period.
Handmade Flowers
I framed her photo with lots of handmade roses inked, sponged and sprayed with a medley of colours to match the colours of my daughter's saree [ our traditional Indian dress]

Handmade Flowers
I used a variety of materials including paper, foam, sospeso and shrink plastic to make the flowers and leaves.

Handmade Flowers

The roses are made from very thick card stock to hold their shape well so they were quite time consuming to make. The foam flower was quick and easy to make. Here is the link for the foamiran flower tutoria
Handmade Flowers
The heart shaped base is made of MDF. It was given a coating of gesso and I decoupaged it before adding all the flowers and leaves.

Fridge Magnet Multipurpose Holder

Fridge Magnet

Hi crafty friends....I can't believe it has been more than a year since my last blogpost. Life was busy and though I did craft occasionally...I didn't have an inclination to  blog or be active on social media.I guess we all do go through such phases isn't it.

My project today is  something I made for my home......it is a multipurpose holder with magnets on the back to help attach it to the fridge door. It is roomy enough to hold bills,a notebook and pen .

Handmade Roses
My kitchen has a predominance of the colour red and  so my fridge magnet too had to be red! The foliage was made with Heartfelt creations stamps and dies. and the shiny flower was made with Shrink plastic.
Shrink Prink Flower
The paper rose and rose bud were made with dies and thick card stock.

I hope you like my project.Do comment so that I can drop by and visit you too. I sure do feel rusty to blog after so long!

Shrink Prink Flowers
Hi friends...my love with Shrink Prink continues. Shrink plastic is so easy to create with and I am enjoying altering objects around my home with creations made of Shrink Prink , a type of Shrink plastic.

I love how hard and durable the flowers and leaves are and they are perfect to create home decor items

Shrink Prink Flowers
Shrink Prink Flowers
I used a variety of flower and leaf dies and used the  regular heat gun to shrink the die cuts. The flowers are pretty easy to shape as the heating makes the plastic soft and pliable so this is a good medium for people who love flower making but don"t really enjoy the pressure required to create dimensional paper flowers !

Shrink Prink Photoframe

Shrink Prink Photoframe
Hi friends its been more than a year since I blogged and I have missed my crafty friends a lot!

My crafting skills are quite rusty and this is a photoframe I altered using Shrink Prink flowers . Shrink Prink has been in the crafting scene for quite some time now but I got my hands on them just a few weeks back and found making shrink prink creations super fun and thrilling! There is something therapeutic about teasing a snippet of plastic into something beautiful!

The white frame around the photo and sentiment was made using air drying clay and a mould like I did in this project : Doll House

The photo is of my daughter and our Siberian Husky. My kiddo is writing her 10th board right now.How time flies!

I have used innumerable snippets to make this project and so linking it to Di's Pixie's Snippets Playground Challenge.
