Hi friends....I hope I am not boring you with all the cups and mugs I have been posting lately...I just love these new Crealies dies !
Easy Felt Sewing Case Tutorial
These Coffee /Chocolate and Smoothie sewing cases were made with the same Crealies dies I used to make the Magnetic Shaker Bookmarks which were surprisingly a huge hit on my facebook account and some people even wanted to buy them!
Felt Sewing Case
When making the sewing cases I kept the design pretty simply and resisted over embellishing as these are meant to be everyday use items!
They are pretty easy to make and you can even hand-cut the shapes but of course if you have the right dies it is easier and more fun!
Easy Felt Sewing Case Tutorial
First cut the mugs from thick card-stock and take a piece of Kraft tex[ Here is the link to read more about Kraft tex] around 3.5 x 2 inches and score 3/4 inch from either side to leave a central 1/2 inch width which will form the spine of your sewing case.
Easy Felt Sewing Case Tutorial
Stick on the 3/4 inch parts of the Kraf tex to the edges of the mug as shown. If you dont have Kraft tex ,use felt / leather or any sturdy material.
Easy Felt Sewing Case Tutorial
Line the mugs and domes with felt. Make pockets for scissors using felt and an optional folded piece of Kraft tex.
Easy Felt Sewing Case Tutorial
Apply glue to the felt+ Kraft tex and stick inside.
Easy Felt Sewing Case Tutorial
While sticking keep a scissors inside the pocket to ensure you dont stick on the pocket too flat or tight.
Easy Felt Sewing Case Tutorial
Add extra layers of felt to act as spots to stick in your needles and pins.
Optional Idea : Glue the ends of a ribbon snugly to hold a needle threader as shown below
Cup shaped Felt Sewing Case
Closure idea : Tie an elastic loop around a button and stitch or hot glue the button to a piece of felt which you will add to the front cover of your sewing case.
Easy Felt Sewing Case Tutorial
If your button has a bulky back...poke a hole in the felt piece and push the button inside it before you stick it to your cover.
Cup shaped Felt Sewing Case
The elastic loop will loop around a brad/ button attached to a piece of felt on the back part of the cover.
Easy Felt Sewing Case Tutorial
No Sew Tip : On the back side you can sew on a button or if you use a brad you can avoid sewing altogether !Just poke a hole on a piece of felt, insert your brad and stick the felt on the base....easy!
Sundae Shaped Felt Sewing Case
Adhesive Tip: To get a neat finish use hot glue sparingly and opt for glues such as Aleene's tacky glue, fabric glue or UHU.
Cup shaped Felt Sewing Case
The Strawberry Sewing case was made out of slate grey , brown and red felt
Felt Sewing Case
The inside is more elaborate compared to the pink case! The white object you see is my seam ripper!
Cup shaped Felt Sewing Case
This one has a polka dotted wooden heart button on the back.
Cup shaped Felt Sewing Case
And finally the Coffee Mug! I kept it very simple and used an antique style floral button on the front [ up cycled from an old dress!]
Mug Shaped Sewing Case
And on the inside you can see my little Tonic Tim Holtz scissors snugly fitting inside the pocket!
Felt Sewing Case
I hope you liked this cute idea for a handmade gift!
Here are the dies I used with link to the Crealies website.
Hi friends , many of you know that my daughter loves to craft!Well in this post my 10 yr old is donning the DT cap for Crafters Corner and demoing 2 super cute DIY felt key chain/ bag charm kits in a You tube video .
Many of us dont have patience for videos [ myself included] but please do check out the first few seconds of the video as it includes a classic "faux pas" and which my little one agreed to include hoping it will make you smile!
Felt Butterfly Charm/ Keychain
What I love about these DIY kits is
It includes all the materials to make the keychains/ charms including high quality felt, stuffing and a fabulous plastic needle which is especially cool and we have saved it for use in future projects too
Level of difficulty : It is not too easy and not too difficult to do so good for adults or children who are dextrous enough to handle threading and tiny embellishments
Versatility- the owl and butterfly can be used as a keychain or to add to a bag or simple as a decorative item
Economic to gift crafty souls
Felt Owl Bag Charm
So here is the cutie owl my kiddo made . My daughter is learning french this year and has named her little owl " Hibou" which is french for owl! Hibou is hanging happily on her school bag and goes to school everyday!!
I hoped you liked my kiddo's DT work and if you can spare a few seconds ...do give her video a thumbs up!!
Hi friends sharing an Accordion Pop Up Card I had to quickly put together this afternoon for a young man who is celebrating his birthday today!
I used a felt guitar sticker and jazzed it up by adding a chain of rhinestones. The red and black stars on the other pop up panel is also a felt sticker. Used gold metallic card stock on my accordion frames
I used the same guitar sticker to make a masculine themed card earlier : Guitar Card
The young man who is my daughter's classmate had been pestering his mom to let him take guitar classes and so I hope he likes this guitar Pop Up Card !

Elizabeth Craft Designs Karen Burniston Oval Accordion
I love traditional Christmas images and Pop Up Cards and so made an Accordion Pop Up Card with a sleigh , a snowman and Santa plus lot of other little traditional Christmas symbols!
Christmas Accordion Pop Up Card
I used Karen Burniston's Accordion Pop Up die to make the frame of my Pop Up Card and used an Inlay die cutting technique with the gorgeous PoppyStamps Emory Oval Frame die to frame my snowman
Christmas Accordion Pop Up Card
I hardly ever make cards without flowers and so couldn't resist adding a heat embossed tiny vellum flower to felt leaves and some rhinestone "berries"!
Felt Crafts
Cut a festive ornament from silver glitter foam and dressed it up with a few rhinestone crystals. The paper I used on the frame of my card also has lots of tiny Christmas ornaments!
Foam ornament
I used tumbled glass Distress Ink on all the ovals and the frames to bring about a coherence of the different panels.
Distress Inks
All the focal images used in this card are stickers...yes I love stickers!
Christmas Accordion Pop Up Card
I used the same Poppy Stamps Emory Oval frame die to frame the Stocking only this time I made the center silver and the edges white.I love the sheer beauty and delicacy of this poppy stamps die!
Christmas Accordion Pop Up Card
Another gorgeous rhinestone decked ornament on the other corner of the Accordion card
Glitter Foam Ornament
And this is how the Accordion Card looks from above with the swinging pop up ovals and since I didnt add any bulky embellishments this card folds perfectly flat for mailing!

Hi friends I am on a card making spree..replenishing my stash of cards! Sharing a masculine card in gold and brown.
Heat Embossing
The musical note is a wooden embellishment I dabbed in Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger's super fine gold. Love how we can custom make our own embellishments with embossing powder.
Guitar Card
I used a DCWV paper , distressed its edges with vintage photo Distress Ink and layered it on metallic gold card stock .I also added a metallic gold Happy Birthday sentiment sticker in keeping with the golden theme!
Guitar Card
The guitar is made of felt and I dressed it up with little metal balls [ actually they are bindis which we Indian women use to adorn our foreheads] and a gold- crystal chain I picked up from a fabric store!
Guitar Card
I hope you like this simple Guitar Card

Hi friends, hope you are having a wonderful time. So many of you appreciated my Spinning Pop Up Ball Card shared earlier. This version of the Pop Up Hexagonal Ball has 3 hexagons and each hexagonal ball spins atop the one below it!
Spinning Pop Up Card
The inspiration for this project was a "love" themed pop up card made by Khusboo Banka who makes it profesionally [ so if you want one to gift to a loved one...order from her!]
Spinning Pop Up Card
Recently my husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding Anniversary and I had to make something special for him.I literally spend days working on this creation and added elements my husband loves....flowers [ my husband loves gardening and especially loves flowers!] ,birds, music, and butterflies !
Spinning Pop Up Card
The I love you is a wooden embellishment which was inked in distress ink and painted over with clear rock candy crackle paint.
Spinning Pop Up Card
The shimmery white flowers you see all over my Pop Up Card are stamped and heat embossed parchment flowers
Spinning Pop Up Card
I used a glitter textured pattern paper for that added "oomph"!
Spinning Pop Up Card
Cute little cupids grace many of the panels of my hexagonal ball tower. The 3 D stickers are a gift from my dear friend Lisa [ of a mermaid crafts]
Spinning Pop Up Card
I hung a resin cupid playing the harp on my top most hexagonal ball!
Spinning Pop Up Card
The wooden musical note was inked in 3 shades and given a coating of "wink of stella" to give it a subtle shimmer
Spinning Pop Up Card
My husband is a keen bird photographer and so I just had to add the doves!
Spinning Pop Up Card
The " Till the end of Time" and "Love conquers All" are Love quotes on acetate from DCWV.
Spinning Pop Up Card
Since the card has 6 layers which fold flat I had to keep the embellishments fairly flat especially on the lower layers. The silver scroll design is a Spellbinders die cut on glitter foam and what I like about foam is its dimensional yet takes a little bit of squishing!
Spinning Pop Up Card
I kept my bulkier embellishments on the topmost pop up ball!
Spinning Pop Up Card
The beautiful multi-layered 3 D decoupage flower sticker is again a gift from Lisa !
Spinning Pop Up Card
The huge parchment flower was made using Heartfelt creations stamps and a crystal flower.
Altered Box
I altered a biscuit tin using red felt to house my Pop Up Card !The box has a couple of things my husband loves... a rose, a camera, a bird and a guitar!
Altered Box
I made the shabby style rose using this tutorial : Easy Rose tutorial .The lacy hearts are layered Spellbinders die cuts inked with distress ink and brushed with "Wink of Stella" [ I think you can just make out the beautiful shimmer!]
Altered Box
And if you want to see how the card pops up and spins do click on this short video . My daughter helped to demo the card for the video!
